I celebrated my O level exam results by drinking pints of mild and whisky chasers with my friends in a pub called ‘The Raven’ – before ID was even invented. At the time, I just could not get drunk, and the disappointment was so crushing, I’ve had to keep practising. I’ve got it right now though.
